All this until I switched to Windows Vista ... I happened to have in my Outlook XP (2002) ran several email accounts, which cared for the new laptop (which came with Windows Vista). In the early days, in addition to more or less violent change that is going from XP to Vista, I found a new problem ... Every time that Outlook started, had to enter the passwords of all email accounts, despite asking for " Remember password. " After some research I realized that there is an incompatibility between Windows Vista and Outlook 2002, which does not allow write passwords! To me it would be unthinkable, all morning to get to jobs and daily in the evening when he arrived home, enter six or seven passwords, just to see the emails ....
Researched alternatives and found the fantastic Mozilla Thunderbird! After the initial phase of habituation (still ressacar years of using Outlook), I surrendered completely and until I'm glad for such a "mistake" with Outlook.
Besides I have solved completely the problem of passwords, software is a much lighter, which allows faster (and less blocks) and extremely flexible. There are numerous plugins available with extra features or even the skins that allow you to completely change the appearance of Thundherbird. Currently I use Thunderbird with the skin and have installed CuteBird Blue complements European Portuguese and English dictionary. Still use the Lightning, which enables us calendar features and management of appointments and tasks (Microsoft Outlook style).
In short, for all the features and ease of use, even when I do today to manage 12 email accounts, leads me to say that Mozilla Thunderbird is not the alternative to Outlook, it is much better than this! But with one additional detail ... The Mozilla Thunderbird is completely free !

It is now a year since I started using Thunderbird and I do not regret anything.
On the question of language, in fact do not exist in Portuguese, the number of extensions that is in other languages, especially English. However, I have now:
Thunderbird, in Portuguese;
Lightning (equivalent to the Outlook calendar), also in Portuguese;
Corrector for European Portuguese;
ImportExportTools is in English but even without knowing the language can you easily work with that - Import / Export
Theme CuteBird (Blue), no matter what language it just changes the appearance.
For now, and what I need, this is essential and great to work because it is light and not "sticks" as often happened with Outlook.
